Jair Bolsonaro has been detained after authorities concluded he posed a definite escape threat while under house arrest.

The one-time leader was sentenced of orchestrating a military coup in the ninth month and given more than 27 years in prison, but he continued under confinement pending appeals.

High Court Judge the presiding justice said the action to imprison the elderly politician was a preventative measure after recent developments were revealed.

Context of Sentencing
